More powerful, more economical diesel engines
The 2.2L TDCi Duratorq diesel engine has proved its performance, strength and dependability in the field and has now been enhanced, offering additional power and economy.
A 2.2L TDCi Duratorq 130PS and 330 Nm of torque is available only on the 4×2 Regular Cab XL.
The 2.2L TDCi Duratorq generates an impressive 160 PS and 385 Nm of torque. Available in 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions (Selected models only).
Need even more power? Then take the 3.2L TDCi Duratorq diesel option, with 200PS and 470 Nm of torque at your command.
Impressive fuel economy and low emissions are delivered from 43.5 mpg (6.5L/100m) and 171 g/km CO2 emissions (160PS 4×4 with 6-speed manual and 3.15 FDR).
The Ford Ranger offers a choice of axles for the manual 160PS 2.2 engine. This allows you to prioritise between fuel economy (3.15 Axle ratio) or towing capability (3.55 Axle ratio).
Use less fuel with Auto-Start-Stop
When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine (while still supplying power to essentials like the headlights, air-conditioning, radio and the Ford SYNC system). When you’re ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic, and the system restarts. Auto-Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).
Keeping your trailer safely in line
Trailer Sway Control detects ‘snaking’ or trailer sway and reduces your vehicle’s speed to help solve the problem, making towing more controlled. The system slows the vehicle down by reducing the engine’s torque and gradually increasing the brake pressure on all wheels.
Stay in control whatever the conditions
Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress. It senses when a vehicle is losing grip and automatically applies a braking pulse to individual wheels, stabilising it. Using advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control System it monitors the behaviour of the vehicle.
Continuous protection against rolling over
Ford’s unique roll-rate sensor helps the Roll Stability Control system to keep the tyres grounded, specifically under conditions where there’s a high centre of gravity and when driving through off-camber turns.
Maximum grip with minimum effort
An advanced Traction Control System eliminates excessive wheelspin and gives you the best possible grip, performance and stability, just when you need it most. The system constantly monitors and adjusts the power delivered to the vehicle’s individual wheels ensuring maximum contact and grip when you’re accelerating.
Coordinated safety systems activate in a split-second
As well as an ultra rigid safety cell and full complement of standard airbags, Ranger’s Intelligent Protection System (IPS) also includes seat belt pre-tensioners and a collapsible steering column and pedals to reduce the chance of injury in the event of an accident.
An early warning if a tyre is going flat
If any of your tyres starts to lose pressure during your journey, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System warns you immediately if there’s a puncture by lighting up an icon on the instrument panel.
Protecting and securing your car from thieves
A Thatcham Category 1 alarm is a sophisticated system that automatically arms itself when you double-lock the vehicle and will sound a powerful alarm if triggered by forced entry, the vehicle being lifted, or if the motion sensors pick up any movement inside. The technology is also designed to help prevent unwanted towing of the vehicle. It’s possible to arm the system in different ways, which means you can choose to monitor the doors, bonnet and boot.
As proof of its ability to protect you and your passengers, this vehicle has been awarded a 5-star rating by Euro NCAP.
